About Maison Mari
Helena Appio set up Maison Mari as a result of her twin passions of food and decoration. Helena trained in Textiles and Fashion at the Central School of Art and at Middlesex Polytechnic and has spent many years designing and creating beautiful homes, artefacts, films, clothes and textiles. After being inspired by renowned sugarcraft artist Alan Dunn and attending his and other training courses, Maison Mari have now created their own range of beautiful and original cakes.
Maison Mari offer a friendly and professional service and can provide either a range of standard classic cakes or bespoke cakes. Helena uses traditional family recipes , drawing on her Italian, Scottish and African roots and adds her own modern twist. Her most popular cake flavours include Lemon polenta, Cuban chocolate and Madagascan Vanilla. All our cakes are individually iced and decorated with beautiful, delicate hand made sugar flowers. Each sugar rose is made up of an average of 15 individual petals, sugar leaves are threaded with a thin wire in order to shape them realistically. Once the petals have been formed, the sepals are added and the flower stems are wrapped with coloured tape. Then the rose and leaves are delicately dusted with edible coloured powder. Each rose with its foliage can take up to an hour to finish.

Our cakes start at £45. A one tier simply decorated cake is priced at £125. As our cakes are usually bespoke, the final price will depend upon the decoration you’d like.
